Born in Voinjama, Lofa County, Liberia, Korlu’s journey is anything but ordinary. She carries with her not just the dreams of a young Liberian girl, but the drive of a woman determined to change her life—and the lives of others—against all odds.

Korlu’s entrepreneurial spirit ignited in 2008 with just $20 and a dream. She began by selling candy, laying the foundation for what would become a multifaceted business journey. The very next year, she ventured into Avon sales, investing $30 into what would become her stepping stone into larger, bolder ventures.

While juggling the demands of single motherhood, raising three children, and holding down a full-time job, Korlu expanded into international trade. From sourcing used vehicles at auctions to acquiring clearance items from U.S. department stores and shipping them to Liberia, she pursued every opportunity with relentless tenacity. She even sold food on the soccer field—whatever it took to move forward.

In 2011, Korlu’s vision took root—literally—when she invested in a few acres of land in Liberia. But she wasn’t content with just owning property. Over the past two years, she has been overseeing the construction of a hotel, a school, a convention hall, and apartment buildings on that land. These aren’t just buildings—they are symbols of growth, opportunity, and hope.

Her entrepreneurial success also extended into the United States, where she invested in Texas real estate, developing rental properties that add another layer to her impressive portfolio.

What sets Korlu apart isn’t just her business acumen—it’s her compassion. Six years ago, she founded a nonprofit organization with a bold mission: to sponsor and uplift underprivileged children across Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. She has since adopted and supported several children, becoming a maternal figure and mentor to those who need it most.

Now, she’s channeling that passion into her next mission: the establishment of a school for the children she sponsors. For Korlu, education isn’t just a tool—it’s a lifeline. Her goal is to provide not just books and buildings, but a future filled with possibility.

Korlu’s journey has taken her across the globe. Her love for travel has brought her to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Romania, and beyond, enriching her world view and shaping her approach to life and leadership. She’s lived in Worcester, Massachusetts, then Richmond, Virginia, before finally settling in Austin, Texas in 2021. Currently, a job relocation has taken her to Romania, proving once again that home is wherever her mission takes her.

Though her home of record is California, her true home is the world—and the hearts of the people she touches along the way.

Gary Noring Jr.—one of our own—recently experienced a moment he had been dreaming of for years: meeting the legendary comedian and content creator Mark Angel. But to truly understand the weight of this moment, you have to know the journey behind it.

Growing up, life wasn’t always easy or predictable. Like so many, Gary faced the noise and pressure of the world around him—its struggles, uncertainties, and heartbreaks. But in the midst of all that, there was always one thing that brought him peace, laughter, and joy: Mark Angel’s comedy.

From the very first skit he ever watched, Gary was hooked. He would sit for hours watching and rewatching Mark’s videos—memorizing the punchlines, laughing out loud, and feeling, even if just for a moment, that everything was okay. Those videos weren’t just entertainment; they were therapy, a lifeline, and a bright light in darker days.
